THANK YOU & A SERIOUS ISSUE

First, thank you to all who stayed with me during 8, yes count them 8, posts answering your questions. Many of you probably learned way more than you wanted to know about what I thought!!! I was stunned at the number and depth of the questions I was asked. You truly made the climax of my first year a very special event for me. My blog friend, Barbara, from England just received the package of the give-away items for my drawing. I'm so glad they arrived safe and sound.

Thanks also for the sweet comments about Oksana's birthday celebration for her and her friends. Today is actually her 13th birthday. How, or how, did she get to be a teenager so quickly!!!! She is a very mature 13 year old and we are so extremely proud of her and the decisions she has made and making. Since this is her birthday the family will be celebrating it tonight with dinner at Macaroni Grill. (See why I don't lose weight........we eat all the time.....our social life it around food!!.) I'm sure I'll post a picture or two tomorrow of this event.

Now to a very serious issue. As you all know I am an avid reader. My preference for reading are books of a spiritual nature but a friend at church recently shared with Mickey & I about a book he had just read that really disturbed him and asked if we would like to read it. He told us briefly about it and I said yes. He brought me the book and we had it read in 3 days!!! It is CRASH PROOF by Peter D. Schiff. He is actually giving investment advice, which is not why I read it or why I encourage you to read it, but it's because he tells the terribly shape America is in that I do so.

In 1999 we went to Dallas and attended a Hal Lindsey conference. At the time we purchased Cliff Ford's book, BLOOD, MONEY & GREED. We read it back then and after reading Crash Proof I pulled it off my shelf and are almost finished re-reading this book again now 8 years later and see how "right on" Cliff was.

We are in a VERY critical time in the life of our country. We Christians know how very serious this upcoming election is to America. We must start making some of the serious decisions in our personal life and in the life of our nation. We must not elect people who promise us all the "something for nothing" mentality that American's want to hear. There is no "Free Lunch" and we are ruining our nation and destroying the future for our children and grandchildren. I personally feel the return of the Lord is VERY near, but the Bible tells us to "Occupy until I return" and that is what we must do.

I would love to hear your comments, feelings and thoughts about the condition of our country. I would encourage you to read either or both of these books and if any of you have other ones to refer to us I would appreciate it.

**********

I am happy that I see the glass 1/2 full and not 1/2 empty. Even though I am moved enough to be concerned I still know that God is on the throne and that we win. I know "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." II Chronicles 7:14

I don't know how many of you are familiar with THE CALL (Lou Engle) but Mickey & I are participating in this call to pray and fasting. Lou is asking us to read Joel 2:12-23 for 21 days (this began on February 13th) and to add Isaiah 22:20-22 and Daniel 2:20-22 for February 20-22. Any who would like to join in I encourage you to do so.

I just read in my little "One Minute of Praise" book about how during 9-11 we all returned to our faith and to the power of prayer. It didn't matter what party we stood for or what color we were, it just became clear that we needed a Savior and hope.

I am so not political, but I do pray for God's will to be done and for His people to humble themselves and pray.

Yes, we are living in the end times and as a spiritual body we must have our armor on. We fight not against flesh and blood in this world.

I am amazed at the people who are so blinded by economy issues and the likes that they allow themselves to throw away God's principles in voting. His way is the only way.

I have not heard of the books you have referred to. Dave and I did read one similar many years ago and find it interesting to see these thing being fulfilled in our lifetime.

Oh for the day we sit at His feet! I'm sure His banquet table will far out weigh all the wonderful places we like to visit frequently to eat out :)

Thank you for posting this serious subject. I feel just the way you do, and I have not read the books yet. I do plan to read them soon.

I fave a post just under my Wordless Wednesday post about Spiritual Warfare. I got my inspiration from Lord of the Rings. I used the music from the movie as well. Each time I've watched it, I've thought about our battle being not with flesh and blood, but with spiritual beings. Of course when we fix our eyes on Jesus and use His Word as our weapon, we are victorious!! Have a wonderful Wednesday. Kathi

Amen and Amen. I added an update to doublenickel reflecting this serious topic and who we elect is important.

Susan isn't it amazing how prophecy is unfolding before our very eyes?

I waited twice for this to post...I wanted to affirm with you!

Just went to Amazon and put the book on my wish list. I want to see if anyone around here (or the library) has it to borrow first. Looks interesting. Yes, things are at critical mass right now. It's hard not to get a little panicked but you are right...God is still on the throne and the final victory has already been won. In the meantime, we've got to be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.

We were discussing that issue at prayer group the other day. It is such a critical time!

Oh I agree with you 100%, I do think God is in control & He will prevail but I do think we as Christians need to stand fast & be aware o events happening around us. I just read, "Armageddon, oil and Terror" ,by John F Walvoord. Another eye opener for sure.

I was just reading this, this morning:
1 Thess 5:1-11
5:1 Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,

2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.

6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.

7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.

9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.

11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
NIV

We are not like those that don't recognize the times, we see it happening all around us. It baffles me that some don't- but God said they wouldn't.

We are to be sober and alert, not putting our heads in the sand.

I love the "therefore" at the end...encourage one another and build each other up.
It is exciting to see God doing that even in our blogging community!

Much love,
Sue

I have not heard of those books, either, but there certainly is a lot to be concerned about, from the loss of industry here in the U.S. to the general immorality all around us, to the and the entitlement mentality that so many seem to have. IT is good to know that our Heavenly Father has the final say!

Susan...amen to your serious post....oh my, with what Jen wrote at Double Nickel and now this...I am sensing this urgency amongst many Christians to get serious....and yet apathy amongst so many others....

I think we are on the same page - regarding our concern for our country. When I think of two little grandbabies coming into the world this year, I have to admit - it worries me. What kind of a country are they going to grow up in? I do try to leave it in the Lord's hands - He has everything under control. But I still worry. And pray.
My husband and I joke that we should move to Australia - they are more conservative than we are. And it bothers me deeply that we are now considered a post-Christian nation. God help us.

It also worries me about what direction our world is heading. I believe some of it is the lack of Christian upbringing. In my kids' classes, there are probably about 30% of the kids that attend church. A good sign tho is that the ones that do, are not afraid to speak about their beliefs and teach others about them either.

Susan, I love Macaroni Grill, but my hubby doesn't like it so I don't ever get to go there. Think of me while you are enjoying your dinner and I'm having beans at home, lol.

I am with you about the condition our country is in. We all just need to pray that the right person will be elected to the highest office in our Nation for the good of our country and all the people who are fortunate enough to be able to live here and enjoy being free.

I posted a little earlier than usual today, and I hope you have time to visit.

We may be far away in proximity but our heart and prayers are close to American soil.

Praying for our country and this time! Praying for my SA country too...things seem to be worsening here in many areas as well!

So glad we know the Saviour and can join our hearts in prayer for the nations of the world!

Hi Susan,

We are going to the capitol of Canada, and I can't think of the name of it right now.

I know I didn't answer your question very well, but hopefully you will know the name of that city.

I have never heard of either of these books, but hope to have some time to check them out one day.

May God bless your time of fasting and prayer. I too believe our nation needs such a revival of souls and I pray for God's glory to be revealed and more hearts to turn to Him in trust and obedience.

We must persist in the faith and hold up our brothers and sisters in this time!

Blessings on you Susan!

I have heard of Lou Engle and The Call. I want to check out it out further.

I just listened to a message by Andrew Shearman from the UK that is STIRRING MY HEART!! One sentence that I cannot get out of my head: "We are not here on earth just to get saved so we can go to Heaven. We are here to bring the kingdom of Heaven down to earth." I am seeking the Lord how I can fully do my part in that. Check out Andrew's website. You'll be blessed, I promise.
